Here it is! No standing waves. Didn't have to use any diffusion or absorption. I have a small problem with sound getting in but I'm working on that. :D

Hey, don't knock the carpet :D .......................it's the same colour as the carpet in our studio.:)

Nice deep shag eh?

Dig those light fixtures too!

The big yellow one's the Sun!

Aside from the bleed from the Honda generator and the snow, you should be OK. Hope you're recording "Bird Calls of North America"- Richie

Cool quadratic green diffuser on the far wall - what's the RT60?

sabine would be turning in his grave.....

wait, thats it there! :D

Foundation will be dug and batter boards put up this weekend. The slab will be poured Monday. Of course I'll take pictures of every step since I finally bought a digital camera (Canon A40). The building will be stood up on the slab week of August 19.

Maybe you could add a Parisian name for your studio....something like..."Moe de Laun Productions"

(sorry)

finally...someone else who sees the benefits of "natural" sound also. ..and far away neighbors. I recorded at Long View Farms once, and the sliding doors to the outside of the "barn" where all standing wide open. Sure...you could hear the wind and the birds, but believe me, that was gone in the final mix...especially with most stuff being close mic'd anyway. Not a home studio setup either, imo!! My Ampeg V4 sounds best on the back porch...without a doubt. Don't kid yourself about the "no standing waves"...etc. Will be anxious to see the 'real' construction too.

now...rain....that's another story...

Just ran up on a great deal for the HVAC. I had intended on a "package" unit where everything (blower, etc) is outside and ducted to inside. I'm sure the price would have been at least $2,000. My barber has two 2 1/2 ton "split" systems for sale. I had calculated my need to be just under 2 tons so this will do the trick. At $300 each I just can't turn it down. Of course that means the blower will be inside. Guess I'll have to cool the place down and shut it off during recording. It might be an inconvenience but well worth it. This might seem like cutting corners but it frees up a substantial amount of limited budget dollars. Also, I wanted a really nice couch for the control room. A local furniture company had an accident where about half of their warehouse racks (5 levels high) collapsed. A lot of stuff got busted up. The couch I got had the matching pieces destroyed. The couch was $800 marked down to $299 because of the missing pieces. Not a scratch on it. It's sitting in the middle of my living room right now. Sure would be nice to get it out of there and into my (to be built) building.

Well, the concrete guy hadn't made it out yet. He's overbooked (surprise). They will be out today to do the grading. Monday the batterboards go up with the concrete pouring scheduled for Tuesday. If he screws up and misses that date then the building contractor won't be able to start the following week. This could cause a 2 week delay because the building contractor will have to start another job. Damn, this reminds me of getting my house built 15 years ago. I guess some things never change.

Attached is a picture of one end of a building similiar to mine. Mine will be slightly larger but this will give you a good idea. Vertical beams are 8". Lotsa room for insulation. My roof is 4:12 so my inside height is slightly higher.

Hey look. Something's finally happening!!! This pile of dirt's been a long time coming. Concrete now to be poured about 9:00 Wednesday morning.

I hate it when contractors can't show up when they say they will.

Heck of a waste of time.

And the saga continues. The first concrete truck was supposed to bring 9 yards of concrete. No way it was more than 8 yards. Next trip he brings 9 yards. Right now we're waiting for the truck because they need 1 more yard. I swear I think the driver stopped by his house and dropped off a yard before that first trip. And we wait.

I'm not concrete contractor, and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't concrete sold at usually a minimum of three cubic yards per order?

I don't understand how they could have shorted you a yard.

I saw your pour on the other thread. Looks good.
