New strings

Hi,

May be this is a stupid question.

I put new rotosound strings on my bass.
And now my Jazzbass sounds awfull, it sounds too metalic.
I refuse to put my old strings back on it cause they are really dead.
How long should I play on my JB to have that metalic sound worn off (or should I throw my bass directly into the mud)?

Is there anything to do about these things??

That's just the way new strings sound.
The edge will wear off in a couple of hours playing.
Best remedy: Sweat a lot. That drops a pile of finger cheese between the windings really quickly

Another thing to try:

On your bass, or on your amp, turn down the high end and increase your mids and low end. That should help a bit as well.
