New strings

Hi All,

I just put new strings on my acoustic quitar and started to record... Oh, boy! It squeaks like hell!!! I tried different micing, but it didn't help much...

Please help!

P.S. I have a Roland Studio Pack and good condenser mics as well as a pick-up.

Play the strings hard for a week or put some fretboard grease stuff on them. I don't think your going to find musch of a recording solution to help you.

Elixer strings with micro poly-coating.

You have experience with elixir strings? A local shop over here sells them very expensive, but they claim your strings will last a lot longer. any truth in that? Are they worth the money?

Guitar Center will usually do 2 sets for 20 bucks. Yes, they do maintain their tone and tuning longer than uncoated strings. But be sure you get the MICRO POLYCOAT and not the regular polycoat. The regular coating is too dull-sounding for my taste.

Since I first tried Elixers they are the only strings I use on my Martins.

I don't really like the nanoweb...

I've gone back to polyweb.

But, i still have 3 sets of nanoweb that I will use eventualy.

I find they last a pretty long time..but, they sound great. I use them on my Taylor exclusively.

And, yeah I generally like the sound of 1 day old elixir.
