I don't much about Soundelux mics at all; actually not really anything.

I'd love to know more about 'em; their products and company history. Maybe I'll have to e-mail them and see what I can dig-up. And I'll have to search and post on r.a.p. too.

Found-out the U95 has a 'Chinese' capsule, the U95S and the U99 has capsules made by B.L.U.E. for them. I don't know about the U97, U195, or R-1 as far as capsules go though.

The R-1 sure reminds me of my Neumann TLM 103s by looks and the specs. given; though I know that doesn't mean much. The frequency response curse plot has the most obvious visual difference between the two.

As far as the history of the company, it appears microphone manufactuering was a "side-thing" for the company and has been more of a focus for them for the past few years.

If I understand correctly, they went corporate, which has improved microphone quality and consistency, and I haven't heard about anyone who disagrees with that.

I guess before going corporate, people were concerned with "corporate corner-cutting" in order to appeal more to the "lower-budget consumer" like a lot of companys have, but it seems that worry is over; especially since most of the microphones which have been released since they went corporate quite a pretty penny that your average "lower-budget consumer" will not most likely be spending.

And it seems everyone agrees that each model is a highly recommended consideration among the highly recommended competitors in each of their price ranges.

OK:

I found-out the U97 and U195 capsules are made in China too. I don't know about the R-1's capsule though.
