The Pie Guy
Hi,
Here is a new tune for you guys and gals.
A story song with a message.
Right or Wrong...it's at Soundclick...

all tracks through a DBX condensor mic into a Roland digital 8 track....mandolin, banjo, guitar and layered vox...

My pal Willie is the performer and co-writer.
waddaya think?
Thanks,
Joe

nice tune.... I like it but I thought I heard some noise in a few spots..... like crackling during some vocal parts. It's a very nice tune though...it has that classic feel to it, and a nice vocal melody.

I think dtb would like this a lot, he's into the mandolin and these types of instruments together..

well done song..

Very classic! I like the banjo in the left and guitar in the right...Very tasteful accoustic playing. I'm with B.SABBATH on the pops and clicks, did the vocals clip?

Hi Sabbath and Darth,
Glad ya liked the tune....
I think perhaps the MP3 encoding may be the culprit .....
Did you stream or download?
The streaming from Sounclick can suck sometimes but,
you get what you pay for...it's free...ya know? :)
I have heardthe stream "clip" at times myself...
hmmmm...

Anyways guys...I really appreciate your taking the time to listen...
Take it easy,
Joe

Hey joro,

I streamed it.... Use should maybe try putting it up on Nowhereradio... then you could see if it still has those noises..
Nowhere is also free if you don't need a lot of space and just want to put a couple tunes up there...

Nice tune again..

Hi Sabbath,
Thanks for replying...
I have a page at Nowhere but I am over the limit for space and unable to get more...
I cannot figure out how to delete single songs there either...maybe I better give Waldo a yell...ya know?
Thanks again man,
Joe

joro,

mandoman. I like this tune. Great stuff. Pay the man some $$ and get unlimited space you tightwad.

"My pal Willie is the performer and co-writer.

Does this mean you are not playing and just recording or what?
Regardless, I like what's happening in this tune. Would it be great if everyone here lived in the same town. Man, we could jam it up special.

Hey Joro, why not read the FAQ's on NWR? All your answers are there ;)

W.

Thanks Waldo...

Gee ...it was so simple after I read the FAQ....thanks man..

It is up at NoWhere now...

DTB....
I am the poser in this tune...
I am the lyricist...
My pal Willie can play just about anything with strings if you give him a day or two to figure it out....
He is quite the talented fellow...ya know?
I am glad ya liked it...
Take it easy,
Joe

so...where is the upright and/or the jug?? I like the style and the tune, but the strumming acoustic seems a little buried, but I DO like the vocal up mix. I think without a bottom end, there is a lot of "tinkling" going on...
Can you pan the bg vocals out a little more? give that early Eagles sound, maybe...??? Nice mando too.

Hi Mixmkr,
Thanks for the suggestions,
We appreciate them very much.

Bass and drums were considered but left off...
We were hoping to have a violin track added to this at some point...ya know..."fiddle playin"....

Thanks for taking the time to listen man,
Take it easy,
Joe

This is sure different.....cool!

I heard the crackles and pops too. Actually, they are almost cool...like an old record. I wonder where they are from.

Sounds good though....old timey;)

Hi Heylow,
man I am gonna have to check this out...
I just don't hear anything like pops or crackles on the MP3 on my HD....hmmmm
Heylow, did you stream it from Soundclick?
I am gonna have to check the stream...

Thanks for listening and I am glad ya liked it.
Take it easy man,

When Johnny comes marching home again...

oops... off on tangent.

I immediately thought of The Band when I heard this. Kind of a "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" feel. Not quite as strong of a melody line as that one. My wife said, "Sounds like John Mellancamp." Whatever.

I wish I could move my pick hand at 8kHz. :D

I thought the lead vocal was dominating a bit too much. It seemed to me like it was occupying too much of the space. I'd bring down some off the highs and boost the highs on the backing vocals. But if mixmr says he likes it, you might want to listen to him and not me.

Personally, I'd play around with the melody line. I think there is a good start to it. But it could be spiced up to make this a strong song. Try goofing around with it on your own by singing variants of the melody. I find that helps quite a bit. Just my my 2% of a dollar.

well...that's a bunch of bull crap....your opinion is equal to mine....almost....can you walk on water, btw??:p

where's blue bear when we need him:D ?

Classic tune! Very good song :)

There are some tuning problem at 01:35 vocalchoir, and 01:45-02:08 banjo left speaker. Nice lead vocal.

Good tune Joro..I liked it a lot. I streamed it at nowhere and I didn't hear any clicks.
Dtb's right...it costs almost nothing to get unlimited space.
I agree with tripleM...the vocals are a bit too much over the instruments.
I also liked Mercer County. Nice stuff here, reminds me of long ago playing the Old South Jamboree.

Thank you gentlemen for the kudos...the suggestions...and the astute observations.
All will be considered for incorporation ...
Thanks again guys...
the best ears on the net are right here I think...
No place better to bring your work...ya know?
Joe :)

P.S.
LT...
I am glad you like Mercer County...I think it is kick-ass Bluegrass myself :)
Take it easy man,
Joe :)

I streamed from both places....sounds the same. Of course I listened in headphones...might of been easier to hear and its only in a few spots.

Hi Heylow :)
Thanks for checkin' man...
I appreciate it in a big way.
Be cool,
Joe:D
