Very good song and nice performance!
Consider reassembling of the drum track. Not only levels and depth are problems, there are some sync problems too. I would try to cut the drums completely in the bridge parts (0.39-0.58).
I don't think you need them there.

Thanks for the nice words, Sikter. Not sure what sync problems there are with the drums, I use a VSTi. Any sync problems would be me trying to stay in time with the drums. LOL. :o

The bridge is at 2:38, I think that what you meant for your suggestion to cut drums. I tried it several different ways and I'm partial to this version. But I do appreciate the thought and advice.

Anyone else have thoughts on the newest version? Particularly the bass and kick??

Thanks!!!!

Good tune Chili. I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said. I like the fact that your rhythm guitars are movin the whole time. Helps keep the song from getting monotonous. Isn't it odd. You guys have no water, and we've had the wettest summer I can ever remember. Go figure.

Are the rhythm guitars on the intro both the Martin X style? They do really draw you into the song-nice riffs!
I guess the main difference in our Teles is that mine has a yellow/orange sunburst, they are kind of heavy but that tone sure cuts through.
Hey guitar zero, I'm in the central midwest and we had an extremely wet Spring and now a scorching Summer-we've gotten the worst of Texas and Oregon!!!!!!!!!

I'm finding that the whole drum track is behind the rest of the music, rhythmically. Some parts more than others. I'd suggest nudging the whole drum track so it comes in sooner... By at least 10ms. Good tune, though, Chili. Drums could also come up in volume a hair or two. :)

That is a kick ass tune. Sounds good to me.

Cool, glad you liked it. :) I'm trying to venture into new territory with my songs.

Thanks GZ. I did a Grateful Dead cover with Heatmiser a while back and i got to listen to his rhythm tracks individually and it opened my eyes to what I needed to do with my songs. Makes it much more interesting rather than straight strumming or something.

I'll be in Portland sometime next week. Quick one day trip.

For the rhythm tracks, the left side guitar is the Martin DCX1e and the right side is the GFS Tele. Then the lead solo guitar is the tele with a different mic on the amp. Then there's the Bass, vox and drums and that's it. 5 recorded tracks and ezdrummer. The intro riff was derived from a little clip I watched on chicken pickin. I didn't steal it, but used teh little hammer on sequence and formed the rest of the riff around it. Glad you liked it.

I don't know about the drum timing thing. Sikter mentioned it, too. The drums are midi. It does have a humanize feature, but not so much to be too far out. It randomizes a little before and after the beat, but not on every beat or hit. I find it varies the velocity more than the timing. If there is a timing issue, which I can't hear except for some sloppy playing, it would be latency in the audio tracks. But again, I really don't hear it.

Bringing the drums up is always a good thing. That I can do. Thanks for the great comments, PI. :)

The revamp is pretty flash!
I could feel the timing lag in the intro but not so much thereafter.
Good tweaking Chilli.

Sounds great to me Chili, I like the song and the performance. Only thing that really stood out on the updated mix is the hi hats panned quite hard to the left, so they felt a little outside of the rest of the mix. Enjoyed it

brilliant Dave, im listening on hi fi so can only speak from it..maybe a little more bass and define the kick

great stuff..loved the guitars and song writing

EDIT: listened again...sounds great...reminds me of some fringe grunge bands...dunno why

Thanks for the double-check, Ray.

Thanks for listening. Good point on the hihat, I'll fix that.

Grunge???  Are we talking about the same song?? :p

Thanks for listening. So, still more bass and kick?? Hmm, I wonder what might have changed in my studio, because it sounds fine to me. Maybe I can blame it on my 5 yr old... she might have tweaked a knob on the sub woofer. Yeah, that's it, blame on the kids. :D
