New Song (Just Music) Opinions Anyone???

Why you gotta be so mean?
I recently recorded this song and had a past drummer do the drums, and I did the guitar and bass (using a cheap bass I was not fond of). But otherwise I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, what do you guys think?

i think it sounds pretty cool. i'm listening on a laptop though. ill comment on the mix tomorrow or something

Its very good, the only thing wrong with it is the length. You have a nice idea, now run with it, make a b section, and develop it.:cool:
 
yeah, that's one abrupt ending to a song that barely made it out of the gate!

i like the gritty guitar tone, although i think the level is too high. guitar is definitely being a mix-hog here.

i'd also like to hear more low end content on the whole mix.

i'd say it's on the right track though...:)
 
- guitar is played very well so are the drums.
- writing is good. You could use a B section as mentioned but what you have is solid. Should be fairly easy to write/sing to this part. Good Luck on that it would be nice to see this grow into a full blown piece.
- the bass is somewhat lacking for the mix on a whole.
- there's a sonic "gap" or "swerve" when 2:22 comes around and only one guitar is playing. On headphones at least... Wondering if you could pan that a bit center and up the volume? Just a thought....

Thank you very much!!!! I think a big reason the bass is lacking in the whole mix is because I didn't like the way the bass guitar sounds, so I have it down pretty low, I've recorded with that bass a few times and can never get a sound I am satisfied with. I also like the main focus to be with the kick so I don't want the bass guitar to hong the lows, but I like the bass to fit with the kick as one so I eq them with the same frequencies usually..... Oh and that drop with the guitar, I panned both guitars hard left and right, I think it makes the song sound bigger. And the drop off is just like a thing where it's like.... Quiet then comes in and you like WHOA!!! now it's loud, what do i do!!!!! I just like to blow peoples minds like that. lol. People just have different opinions on things, and I really do appreciate yours.
