Hey Keith;

I'm sort of typing as I listen....Good piano sample (what did you use??) and nicely played. Most listeners' ears would not tell the difference, but I think a real one would sound better.

Nice voice - well tuned and nice quality, though it is often drowned out by the instrumentation. Bring it forward in the mix. I like the harmonies too.
Acoustic bass sounded good and was effective for this arrangement and instrumentation.
Instruments were well mixed throughout (though vocals need to be more forward).
The jazz bit sounded nice w/horns and stuff, but seems totally out of place musically, as far as "fitting in" with the rest of the song.

I'm surprised that your last work (though I didn't hear it) only got one star. I'd certainly give this more.... just a bit of tinkering is all it really needs, IMHO.

Chris

lynx - I'd like to give you a listen, but MP3.com keeps crashing my browser when I try to download. Sorry.

I'll try back later.

Hey Lynx...
Great song man..... I loved the upright bass sample until that fast walkdown into the middle section... ....kinda cheapened it a little. Youve got a great voice. I loved the vocal parts and the harmonies.... kinda sounds a bit like Randy Newman...if he could sing:D I'll agree w/ chris that the vocs could stand up front just a bit more though. Regarding the jazzy middle section..... I didnt mind it so much going in..... it just sounded real awkward coming back into the verse section. Maybe a smoother transition there..... I suppose thats very opinion based though. Anyways, Great song lynx. Nicely written..... Im looking forward to hearing more. stay cool:cool:

Very nice. A well crafted piece. I agree the vocal should be nudged up just a little. I sometimes suffer from the temptation to keep the vocal low in the mix when I'm mixing my own voice. It's an attempt to mask my vocal weaknesses. Don't be shy. Your vocal was good and fit the song well.

Actually, I didn't mind the middle section. It's kinda like a collage.

keep it up.

Chris - You're right. I used the Roland XP Pianogrand sample. It sounds alright but whenever I played this on my real piano, it's always sounded a bit better. The voice is a bit in the background especially in verse one. I think I'll downgrade the piano part, it may be a bit too strong.

TripleM - That's too bad, not sure why it's doing that...hope you get to hear it.

Guernica - Thanks for the comments. Randy Newman? That's a new one for me, I must be getting older :)

twist - Thanks, points well taken. I find the middle has grown on me as time goes by.

Hey Lynx, nice tune.I really liked the vocals all the way around. The harmonies are great too.....I kinda liked the jazzy breakdown in the middle....if the jazz section was a little more elaborate ,it would sound a kinda like some of the jazzy things TOTO has done.

Nice tune.I'll give you 5 stars as a pre-emptive strike!:D

Lynx, some good stuff at mp3 there. I listen to a few of them on hi-fi, for some reason the stuff I listen to on nowhereradio always breaks up on hi-fi. The songs are good and the vocals are good also, I agree though the vocals could come up a bit.

Kramer - Thanks for the comments and the "stabilization" plan :)

Flash - Thx, and double thanks for checking out some other stuff.

nice!!!!!!!!

im probably the only one, but you sound alot like eddie monie(sp??) if he was trying to do somehting like this, nice voice!!!!!!!

good song man!!!

thank's

peace

Nice song again Lynx- piano doesnt sound as real as some I've heard-Voice sounds good-reminds me of Bruce Hornsby-I like the jazzy section-maybe a ride cymbal would have worked better than the old stripper beat heh....Very good overall-thanks for another good tune!

Hey Lynx, it's nice to hear a good singer for a change. You have a good voice. Good songs too.

Had some streaming problems, but what I could hear sounded very good. Nice singing and playing, fine harmonies. Well-written lyric and strong melody. What's not to like?
Very good job.

Everything sounded good, great vox especially, but I'm hearing alot of hiss, maybe it's just me since no one else has commented on it, but Im definetly hearing it.

Nice vocals. I think the piano intrudes on them some. Maybe a level thing and maybe a space/eq thing. I'd toy some with both.

The interlude was fun to listen to but struck me as being out of context and incoherent with the body and thrust of the song. Maybe try a more involved transition or just let the song be a heartfelt piano, crooning piece.

Again, I liked the vocals but, think the song demands clarity on the vox track.

Peace,
Theron.

I can hear a little hiss with headphones but not with my speakers. What are you listening to it with?

Wow, from Randy Newman to Bruce Hornsby and Eddie Money. I used to sound like Sting I swear :)

Thanks guys for all your feedback, I am truly floored by all the great comments.

I have a question though.....

I've always had troubles getting the most out of the vocals.

I have a Samson R11 microphone, is this a piece of crap?

good job on this tune, i agree with everyone about your nice voice...coming from lots of bands with weak singers i can apreciate a good voice. About the "jazzy" party in the middle, it sounded like it was put there to solo on piano......but i really don't feel like that part fit, nor was it "jazzy." If people who studied jazz heard it i think like you said earlier, they might be a little affended......kind of like kenny G, how he gets associated with every jazz musician because not many people really know the difference.....but great voice and nice song overall.

nice song. nice singing, your voice sounds great. a lot of potential in this song imo.

here's what i'd change (course i'm nobody from nowhere but...)
1. bring up the vocals. they are the best part of this song and sound really well recorded imo. just need to be louder.
2. lose the jazzy interlude. it sounds cool on it's own but out of place here imo.
3. experiment with replacing that piano sound. maybe even try different instrumentation. i think your real piano will sound better if you have the resources to mic it. i have a roland xp board as well and have yet to find anything that comes close to my real piano.
4. the bass sound ( i think i know the patch you're using) has too much attack built into it so it sounds a little too fake some times. it's a difficult situation cause it's a really cool sound but very one dimensional.

Good tune.. good voice... don't know who you sound like but it sounds good... :)

agree on vocal level.. and piano is a little to much compared to vocal...

jazz thin is cool... I amd not sure how it sits with the the whole consept of the song... maybe you ment it as "it's ok" to go on and have fun and all .. or maybe I'm just making it up... :D

don't know about your mic but I never heard anybody raving about any Samson product...

cheers
