I must say, that is quite an amazing beat ;)

But you turned the tempo down lower than it was supposed to be.

Good concept! Deep lyrics.........
Nice flow for you to be new to the game..........
The mix was terrible!!!!!
Grab a nice hook and slap that babdboy in there and you got a nice laid back vibe. Kill all that reverb and mellow the vocals out. (It has to be, IMO, mellowed out to consist with beat) Nice beat too!

Was that a throat clearing at the beginning? U're supposed to edit that sort of thing out...lol

Anyway, overall good track. And I agree with Ill's self-pat on the back...nice beat.

Put a good mix on it and u got a good throwback style thing goin...

I just noticed that your TV must have been on when recording from that high pitched background noise...haha turn it off. But yeah, just make sure you do those little thangs that everyone is saying.

i really wasn't digging the flow at all, no energy whatsoever

oh and i looked at your profile... one tip, rap is the music, hip hop is the movement.

alright. first i have to point out that you just quoted krs one. those arent your words. so dont try to give me a tip that you dont understand. when krs one says "rap is the music hiphop is the movement" he is talking about how hiphop is a culture. rap exists inside of hiphop. and when i say hiphop im talking about de la soul, freestyle fellowship, and krs one. when i say rap im talking about the shit that is played on the radio today like 50 cent, chingy, and TI. rap is the retarded cousin of hiphop. and in present day rap is different from hiphop. you cannot say that they are the same. rap is a poor excuse for music. and its people like you that cant see the difference. i dont mean to be rude but you have to get your facts staight.

^^^

He is not talking about 2pac and other good rappers like Nas. Just for clarification.

But one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Ahh man, this is pretty good. I really like the guitar loop. I think the last two lines would actually work great as the first two lines (lyrics). Maybe throw an instrumental break in, too. But its definately on to it man! Peace

I have never understood this argument. From what I've gathered, the whole 'hip hop is not rap and is way different' argument is pretty much only used by people who want to be elitists but don't really have enough knowledge. Rap IS the music, and yes I'm going to say that. I'm sure your favorite 'hip hop artists' do consider themselves 'rappers'. Saying that rap sucks and hip hop is good is ignorant because although whatever you may consider 'rap' music may not appeal to you, there is still a lot of talent and work that goes into it. Just because the subject matter is different and the mc's usually aren't very skilled doesn't make it less 'hip hop'. I hate 50 cent and his music just as much as the rest of us, but with all the production and thought that goes into that music, it is still very much hip hop. I don't like his style and I don't like the fact that he rhymes 'good' with 'hood' in every single verse, but the way he expresses himself still makes him hip hop.

As for your song, I think you could put more effort into the lyrics and energy. If you listen to good rappers and hate simplistic radio music, why do you write lyrics with such a simple style? The whole song is supposed to be descriptive of an event and the way it made you feel, but your words lack substance.

physical ill, I have to admit that that beat is actually pretty nice. I know I have already cut you down for your rapping style before, but you seem to have a good ear for music. Is that live guitar or is it all synthesized?

Ahh you give me too much credit. I got the guitar from a sample pack a while ago.

i know what your saying. and i know that my favorite hiphop artists consider themselves rappers. what im saying is the rappers of today have nothing in common with what real hiphop is. back when rappers were original there was no difference between rap and hiphop. but since rappers today have moved so far away from the roots of hiphop i dont consider the music they make to be of the same genre as the music made by mc's who rap simply because they love it and not for the money. an example of this is the song nas released called "hiphop is dead". nas is one of todays few skilled rappers. and he acknowledges that what hiphop used to be is now gone. and since "hiphop" no longer exists in the main steam i cannot bring myslef to call todays music "hiphop". therefore in my opinion "rap" and "hiphop" are in fact different.

The point of that nas cd is when he says 'hip hop will never die'. It is true that a large amount of artists have an ear for what will become a popular hit and decide to make songs so they can make money. But those songs are what they think is a good song, so its still an expression of themselves. You and me might not like songs about going to clubs and grinding, but a lot of people do. Those rappers might be pissing a lot of people off because they become famous when good rappers don't become famous, but the fact of the matter is they are still making songs that thousands of people like. Hip hop or rap whatever you want to call it is about expressing yourself, and that's how the famous rappers choose to express themselves.

You like to make songs that you think are meaningful, and that's fine. I like to rap about kicking people's asses and rocking beats. 50 cent likes to make songs about how much he wants to have sex with ciara. Its all about what you think sounds good.

Comparing 2007 to 1992 isn't really fair though. Of course rap music is different now. Back in 1992 everyone thought it was going to be a fad and that rap was going to go away soon enough. When I started listening to rap I pretty much had to keep it a secret cause everyone else thought I was stupid. Now its 2007 and its blown up, so of course there's going to be a lot of pop stars in the industry. Even though I don't like their music, I still consider it hip hop because they're expressing their life the way they want to.

you are right about money motivation being a problem. If money is the only reason somebody does something, its usually a bad idea. But all those rappers you hate went through the same struggle that you are going through. You might not like the outcome of their struggle, but if you're going to call that type of music anything, call it pop. Rap to me is still a good thing and always will be, even if a lot of pop artists are taking advantage of rap to sell records.

i actually agree with most of what you are saying. except i think when an artists makes a song based on what will get him money that he is not expressing himself. i think that he is writing what people want to hear. therefore he is just playing to the ears of the audience. acting as a puppet. and i refuse to call that hiphop. because i have way to much respect for hiphop. and by the way you speak i think you do too.

and i would also have to disagree with the statement that all rappers went though the same stuggle that im going through now. cause the outcome to my struggle will not end with me selling my soul to make some money off of corporate america. that is called selling out. and thats the exact opposite of what hiphop stands for.

and the reason i say i hate rap is because the general public decides what is played on the radio. they have no clue that rap is a part of hiphop. and since the general public decides what songs are good, they also decided if mainstream rap is good. the public has made the decision to listen to shit for music. and they call that shit music rap. they have not labled shitty music as hiphop. and that is why i say i listen to hiphop not rap.

okay...

i'll say it again, rap is the music, hip hop is the culture. it doesn't matter what you rap about, or how you do it, it's still rap. HOWEVER, like you were saying, some people keep it really about hip hop, instead of the whole mainstream thing... so don't go running your mouth to me and then just babble some shit that backs me up. thanks.

Who said that talking at 300 words per minute was music? Maybe whatever is playing in the background...
