Need to get some feedback on the mix and also the mastering of this song.
The band is a post hardcore/rock band.

any feedback would be great. I mixed this song again after reading the book "MIXING ENGINEER HANDBOOK". IT a great reference book.

I think it sounds pretty good. Maybe raise the mids on the bass a little maybe to add some definition. What kind of effects are you using on the vocals? Sometimes they sound a little harsh. Maybe bring them to the front and warm them a little bit. The instruments sound good. Nice job.

I like the mix and the song.
Very strong music.
I felt that the vocals were the weak link - seemed to be flat often.
But, like I said, the song, quality, music and mix were very strong.

thanks guys for the feedback. Im very happy with the mix, but the vocals are a bit lacking. I applied slight delay to the vocal tracks, but I will experiment with it to give the track more presence and bite.

Just a suggestion, but would de-essing the vocals help? Or is this the wrong application for de-essing?

D-essing is used to correct sibilance (harsh 'S' sounds). The only thing that would correct this vocal track is a new vocalist - sorry to say it. He's completely off pitch throughout the song - it's just dreadful.

I didn't care for the high pitch of the snare. It sounded as if it were only top mic'd and I didn't get that nice snap and sizzle. The high-hat is a bit present and harsh as well.

The guitars and bass sound pretty good. The instrumental performance is tight. Overall, it sounded like it was recorded live in a small room - a little 'boxy'. I didn't perceive a lot of separation in the tracks.

I know about the vocalist, he is dreadful but I needed to keep a straight face. You should have heard the drums before using drumagog. the snare and kick were samples of my tama kick drum and my porkpie snare. when you mentioned separation, where you referring to the panning or the eq of the indiviual instruments?.

thanks for the feedback.

The track rocks, has a real raw rocking live feel to it. Singer sounds a little disconnected with the music, distant and out there at times... he's not too bad but needs to be more up front with the rest of the mix. Bass sounds good. I agree that the instruments could use a little more separation... individually the guitar rocks, but sounds like it might take over too many frequencies... try EQing for more room.
Good start here ;)

I will look at the freq. range of the guitars to make more room.

thanks
