hey everyone,
I'm looking at getting the delta 1010 to use with Sonar.
Ill be using it for recording drums primarily (yamaha stage custom, zildjian a's) with audix fusion 6 mics and a beta 57.
Im running an AMD athlon 1GHz processor with 256mb DDR, probably going to expand to 512mb. Ive got an nvida geforce2mx video card, thinking about switching to one that supports use of two monitors.
Now its my understanding that the mics will need to be preamped before connecting to the 1010 and for that job i am looking at the SM Pro Audio PR8.
Does anyone have advice or words of caution?
 
I don't know anything about the SM pro audio preamp but the price of it would lead me to having concerns. If you could increase your budget you could get a mixer that would meet your needs for recording drums and then you could save your quarters for a higher quality preamp later on. If you go with that setup how do plan on monitoring?
