I'm now thinking in a new direction...for all those that helped me with the studio packages, thanks! I wouldn't even be able to think about this other option without you. I now think that the best route may be different, for instance I don't need a mixer because I am doing my work in software, right? Also I don't need a mixer to use a preamp right?

I've ended up having more money than I thought, (2500 can) so about 1750 US to dedicate below...
How much money would you put towards each component to get the overall best finished music.

Soundcard...(main concern, sounding great in every aspect except instruments)
A preamp...(thinking Art tube MP or could I do better)
A MIC...
Pair of Monitors...
and an amp if not built in to the monitors...
(is it good to have built in amps?)
or also a keyboard...( merely for a wide spectrum of quality sounds or something that I can add into the mix, but nothing to crazy)

The studio pack ideas where good, but I'm thinking I can push myself further this way, towards proffesional sound. Thanks!

oh

I didn't mean to say souncard not needing to saound good with instruments...

just because you put BIG MONEY into a project does NOT mean you will get a "pro" sound.

even if you make your music internally your soundcard WILL have an effect on how it sounds. i think you should reconsiderr that statement.

get the presonus blue tube. 19 out of 20 points in the electronic musician mag. it also won best pre amp under $1000 in the editors 2001 choice ward of electronic musician.
rode nt 1 or akg c 1ooo

event monitors or alesis monitor ones. alesis ra 100 amp will power either pair. bi amped speakers cost a lot but..they are calibrated and MADE to work. so that means no guess work and all of that. since your working on the pc make sure they are magnetically sheilded. they are MORE expensive.

i really cant say. because you can get a sound module or midi controller. or get a workstation. probably an alesis key board or yamaha. or roland xp 10 or 30. you gotta shop around.

????????????????????? i dont understand that statement. you want "PROFESSIONAL SOUND"? take your stuff to a studio and pay. after that take it to brian "big bass" gardner.

i suggest you look into the pro tools setup. get protools le or something.

im out czar.........

thanks...

You seem to always come through...
Check out the MICROPHONE section, I posted about the blue tube and didn't get a good response, apparently it's not all it's supposed to be, and really not very good, despite the reviews.
What I meant on the last statement, was...well it made sense when I wrote it. thanks...
