new overhead mics ?

i want new overheads ,me and my freind currently have MXL 991's but i want some for myself cuz i dont know i wanna do some personal recording ,I will only spend 200 dollars at this point ,so wat OH mics are better than these and are 200 dollars ,for mostly heavy metal and rock

Oktava mc012... that's what I'd get.

Studio Projects B1 if you want a LDC and they're a good utility mic too.

Others will recommend MXL 603 but I've never heard em.

I'm also curious about this topic... I'm a little leery about the Oktavas. How do you know if you're getting the good ones?

Oktava is a russian company. but they also have a factory in china making them as well. try to find some russian ones but you are goping to have to listen to several of them to find ones you like. each one can vary greatly. i have 2. one has a prtty flat response then the other has a huge boost around 4k. you just have to use ur ears and find some you like.
