No replys!! If you don't like it you won't hurt my feelings if you say that. I'm game for constructive criticism.

The reason I'm posting here is to help me get an idea of what you all think is hot. This will help in putting together my demo package and discography for a few labels I'll be sending to in a month or so.

Any feedback is appreciated.

hhh

yo i like the beats ....what u use to make it...

i only have a laptop and a dr-660 drum machine and an lot of software....need to figure out how to get all workin together so i i do som ebeats...

Hi_D_Ho, Thanks for the reply as always. The kick and rimshot are a little laid back volume wise. Did you listen to it in lo-fi or hi-fi? I'm just listening to it right now in lo-fi and this seems to attentuate the bass overall, making at least the kick sound quieter. None-the-less, I'm thinking I'm going take your advice and redo the mix on this one.

Bknot, are you asking me or Hi_D_Ho? The hhh in the subject field is throwing me off. Anyways, I'll tell you what I use to make my tracks.

sorry yeah it was for u....i see im messin around with the little i have to see what i can do...

Bknot1,

I started making tracks about 6 years ago with just a Boss DR-5 Rhythm Section ($400 drum machine). This unit has 4 tracks, 3 instrument tracks and 1 drum track. This was sufficient enough to let me learn how to sequence and write songs. I probably spent about 1.5 years using only that machine, probably made about 100 beats with it in that time. I even released an album where all the beats were made using the DR-5. You can check it out at: http://artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/The_Stray_Cat/

This will give you an idea of what you can do with just a little bit of equipment. You just keep building and getting better. I still am buying new gear and learning how to use it. My advice, spend as much time as you can experimenting and making new tracks, and also be prepared to become a gearaholic.

i listened in hi fi. but i dont have monitors , that could be a factor

Hi_D_Ho,

That could be a factor, but like I said before I'm going to redo the mix the track and bring the kick and rimshot up a bit.

Thanks again for the input.

I can only manage lo fi, so I heard what HI D Ho heard, other than that, the beat is real nice.

MM&H, Thanks for the listen and reply. I like the track too, but I think Hi_D_Ho is right about the kick and rim, which I'll be fixing. I'll post here with the new version soon.

MM&H and Hi_D_Ho, you two have posted a reply on every beat I've put up here, thanks it truly helps alot. I'm wondering if I can return the favor. Do you have any tracks I can check out?

Just some old stuff I did for this cat, I can post the link. The engineer wasn't the best as you'll see, that's why I'm working on doing my own stuff now.

I just re-listened to your stuff, I think you will definitely make a mark in the music biz, you got some ill talent.

Now let me find that post.

Ok, here it is

MM&H, thanks for the support man. That really is a huge compliment and one that I hope does come true. Nothing but respect for you. I'll be listening to your link tomorrow and you can count on a review shortly.

I'm here for two reasons, to get better and to help others get better. I believe that if everyone here can hold a similar view at least one of us is going to make it. We all need support in trying to achieve our goals. Your girl telling you your beats are hot is one thing, but coming from another producer it really means something, it helps to build confidence in your abilities. The constructive criticisms help us to improve on things we may have not realized and look at things from a different perspective.

I've been on the net for years and I think I've finally found a place I can call home.

I started with the DR-5 too, in some ways I actually miss the simplicity of that little machine, but I definitely appreciate what I work on now.

MM&H,

I'm listening to "NC 4 Life". I see what you mean about the mixing. Production is tight, not really my style. Now I'm listening to "Not Enough". Like the strings and piano here. Like the the feel of this track, real nice work. Now I'm peeping "Best of All". Like the female MC, tight. Ths isn't really my style but I like the drum and bass line.

Overall, some nice work man, tight production. My pick of the 3 I listened to is definitely "Not Enough". I like the track and it more my style of music. Keep me posted with new stuff when it becomes available.

I'm listening to the way you arrange your stuff and the way you syncopate and stuff, and I'm just frozen here in amazement. MASTER, your stuff is ART.

BANG ON!

Thanks Stray, that female MC is my sister, she also produced that beat herself. Some of those beats were his concept, but most of them I gave him cause they fit his prefference. Not enough is one of my favorites too:D I was almost surprised he liked that one so much. I usually make and rhyme to beats like that, not really the others.;)

Cyan,

I'm not sure if that compliment is directed towards me or not. If it is, I'm humbled by your comment. I don't really know what to say. THANK YOU!! I'm glad you like my work.
