recently I roasted one of my mackie 824's.....took em both to the repair shop, got tired of listening through headphones and bought a pair of behringer b20309's.......they ain't mackies but they ain't bad! I got the passive ones and hooked up to an old alesis ra100....I know a lot of people dislike behringer and I had my doubts but, they cost less than half for what one repair is going to cost me....just my 2 cents!!!
Seeing as how alot of people don't like the 824s (myself included, I use adams, tannoys(mains), and events and soon blue sky), it's not too alarming. Still, the behringers don't agree with me. The coloring they add is unwanted to me, same with the mid boost in the 824s. As long as you end up with a quality mix, who cares who made them. On the other hand, ask yourself, why aren't people using them if they are that good? You might try to find a set with a similar, yet crisper sound. Try listening at GC (a C level or higher) or at studios in the area. Just food for thought. Good luck with your mixes!
