I wanted to buy a Sub for my old monitors Tascam VL-X5 because there's not enough low level bass for me to be able to monitor properly, I'm dealing with a lot of bass in my productions, so.

Instead I decided I'll buy new monitors with a 8" element.

So my choices are between these, because these are the ones the store I get a discount at carries:

KRK RoKIT RP8
Yamaha HS80M
Roland DS-8
Tapco S8

Which is best?

Or which would you recommend.

If you want to know what I'm producing it's Hip Hop.

though I have never owned any of these, I hear some very good things about the first two choices in your list... I've heard they get to some lower frequencies that some of the other monitors in the same price/size range won't typically reach.

Go KRK

The RP8's are a wise choice. Solid- enough power and depending on your room, you won't need a sub.
Nice high-end and realistic lows. . .IMO way better than the BX8's

i say out of the ones you listed....the yamahas would be hands down my choice....then the rockets

I recently purchased RP8s, they filled the hole I had in the low end and do a pretty good job for the price. They are a little weak on the wattage, but they are pretty much near fields anyhow. For the money, I'm satisfied with mine.

I listened to the RP8, the HS80, and the S8. HS80 is the best of the 3, IMO (and the most expensive). It had good low and high response without being too much. The S8 made me wonder if the low end was hyped, but if you need more bass it will give you more bass. The RP8 was OK, adequate lows, adequate highs, but next to the HS80 and the V6's detailed mids, the RP8 seemed a bit flat. That said, any of the 3 of them would work well, and would probably have more low end than a 5" speaker.
