Hey guys,

A friend of mine has recently bought a 2nd hand audiophile card.

He now wants to upgrade his mobo, memory and processor.

worse thing is, he expects to do the whole lot for under $350... which is pushing things to say the least. He's asked me for advice... (always a dangerous thing)

The mobo i've seen is the
Abit KD7 KT400 333MHz 5.1Snd/DDR/LAN/USB2 ATX
it uses the VIA KT400/VT8235 chipset

Has anyone has problems with these mobo's with the delta cards?

if so, can you recommend a different chipset?

Cheers

Emeric, does this mean you've heard of trouble with this board?

Or are you just recommending what worked for you?

That MOBO should build one kick-ass DAW. My question is why are you upgrading to begin with aren't there enough slots? Sometimes a fresh OS will work wonders on a cluttered, fragmented machine. I would try that first.

No, I've never used that board, that's why I didn't mention it.

Yes, as always.

OK, well I have used many Abit boards and find them to be the highest quality and ver good for DAW building.

Emeric, in the future you might state that you aren't voting against anything just giving a vote for what you like. It looked like you were saying to use the Asus instead of the Abit. Why say anything at all?

I've never used Abit boards in a DAW setup, I've build many machines using Abit boards.

What I was saying is that the SIS 745 chipset works well with Delta products, and ASUS and MSI both make good products. I suppose I could have said 'I haven't used that ABIT board with that chipset, but I have used these and they work....'

Is that clear enough for you?

In the future Jake-Owa, I'll post however I like. If you feel it's important to clarify my posts - have at it.

Just a suggestion to put your comments in context.

Go on posting however you like and I'll do the same.
