I am looking to buy a new mixer and I was looking at the DM 3200 or Dm-4800.
Since these two have been out for a while, I was wondering if any one has any knowledge of Tascam releasing a new mixer any time soon. I have the Tascam Dm-24 and want to up grade my mixer.

I do have some knowledge as to the workings of the Dm-3200. I do like it but
I would like a more updated mixer.

I do see that Musicians Friend has the mixer for 1999.00 It is a factory refurbished one.

Also if you buy one there at regular price you can get a rebate of a Meter bridge
for free. I am afraid to buy a factory refurbished one. I see Guitar Center has refurbished
ones to for 1999.00 . There must have been a lot of bad ones that
needed repair. The full price is 2450 to 2999.00.

Usually when these things are happening a new mixer is going to be released
soon.

Any information would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

I just bought a DM4800 ($3250), meter bridge ($600), and firewire card ($300) brand new - no refurbs - from B&H in New York. They delivered everything quickly and safely. Their DM3200 is selling for $1999. I have never purchased anything form them before, but I certainly will again. Local vendors weren't able or willing to even come close to their pricing.

The deciding factor to buy in at these prices was that the DM4800 does everything I want it to:
- 24 decent mic pre's
- 24 motorized faders
- DAW control
- talkback control
- 4 expansion slots
- inexpensive conversion via firewire
- easy to integrate with my iMac

I played the waiting game for three years in hopes that someone would release something better, cheaper, or easier to use. That still hasn't happened - and I'm now mixing happily OTB at a fraction of the cost of a 10 year old, heavily used 02R96V.

A friend is building a studio a few hours away - we got to talking about this very topic and he went ahead and bought a DM4800, too.

Well........... I had been playing the waiting game to but I missed it. The mixers have gone up in price since you bought yours. I missed the boat. I was wondering if Tascam had gotten some bad internal circuit boards or something and they were trying to work them out of the system at a reduced price. They were on sale everywhere. I even saw them with a 1999 price tag with a 15% off coupon for the The Dm 3200. Yes the 4800 was on sale to with the 15% off. They also had a lot of repaired merchandise that they were getting rid of to.

Good luck with yours and use if often so that you will know if there is a problem and get it taken care of . Believe me I have been watching this products for a few years now. I am hopeing that the price went up so that it may go back
down when a new model comes out. Anyway have fun mixing. I do really like the tascam products. I have been using them for years and by the way, B&H Photo is great to I use them also for things to if the price is right.

Where do these stories come from, what a lot of bull. When things are put out on special it means a few things, there is a new or upgraded version coming out, they have totally discontinued the item and are selling all the old stock, the retailer has had the stock for too long and just wants to move it on. I have bought stuff like this for years and got deals.

Congratulations on the purchase.
