new interface/mixer

I'm looking to dump my digi 001 (love it, but it won't work with my core 2 duo) and pick up something new. I'd like at least two mic pre's and at least two line inputs. Currently I'm leaning mackie onyx 1220 w firewire card, but I'd like to spend less if I can get something decent. As far as pres go, I just want something quiet. Heard good things about the onyx.

I record in reaper and do 99% of mixing and effects in the box, so I'm just looking for some decent channels in. For a cheapskate.

edit: Realized I should define "decent," as it's a relative term. Anything as good or better as the 001 pres, which isn't asking a lot.

Interesting, thanks. That looks just about right as long as it sounds decent and is friendly with different software.

Anyone else have experience with the 610?
