Flailing up a storm.
So i picked up a used layla 24 this weekend, hooked it up to my xp pro system, well here are quick stats:
XP pro SP 2
Athlon 1800 (I know, but i shouldn't be taxing it too much these days anyway).
1 GB of ram
125 GB hard drive.
MOBO - soyo, with via chipset k7 ADA or something similiar.

I isntall the echo drivers, hook everyhting up, and boot the system and get a hradware failure crash. a few reboots later, i get the dirivers to finish installing and the interface starts to work fine, great sound through my monitors, inputs seem to be working fine, but every now and again i get the hardware crash.

The onboard audio chip and dirvers are still active, i couldn't dsisable it throguh bios (when i selected disable, it jsut ignored it, not sure the story there). I can probabaly disble the audio chip from the motherboard, do you think that might be causingmy conflict?

i am pretty sure the card and interface are in perfect shape, i literally watched the guy take it off his workiing system to hand it to me when i bought it. Any other ideas, short of upgrading the MOBO and processor and essentially building a new system?

THanks
Daav

Disable the onboard sound would be my advice. When I installed my Yamaha card years ago it totally went mental until I disabled the onboard sound. Try that.
