Ok, after mixing those last two mix contest songs I decided that I'd do a nu-metal tune, or whatever the genre is called..

I started with the cliches of drop d tuning, clanky string scrapes, growly bass and rapid fire kicks.. but not knowing this style I started veering off into my synth space rock territory, and now it sounds like Flock of Seagulls meets Metallica.. :rolleyes: With a dash of Rush maybe??

PS, my 8 year old son said with this style I need some of those cookie monster vocals... I thought it would be funny to have someone singing "cooooo-KIE!!" in that voice.. could have called it Cookies From Hell or something... Hmm, maybe I'll still do that.. :D

Any comments appreciated, it's still an early mix;

Doesn't sound that nu-metaly to me :)

Sounds metalica-ish in the beginning, untill the über-80s synthline comes in ;) hahaha

Nice...thing dude :)

Thanks.. seems whether I'm doing blues, metal.. have to put in synths.. never should have gotten that mini-moog, just too cool not to use! :rolleyes:

The intro is kinda cheesy. You should stick to the synth rock. The poppy synthline kicked ass. The riff after isn't too bad either.

Everything but the intro was sweet. Heh. The intro wasn't all that bad.. it just sounded cheesy, doesn't really fit the rest of the song either.

:D Ok, one vote for axe the intro...
Make that two! Everything else fit together nicely, but the intro :eek: ! The "cookie monster" vocal would work with the intro if you took out the synth, but then you'd be taking out the heart of the song, IMHO. Good stuff, the intro not withstanding :D

Dont do cookie monster, it's really not very metally. Cool stuff though.

I think the guitar part sounds more like Stone Temple Pilots. Maybe if you tuned lower and played through something other than a Vox or Fender Champ.
This is WAAAAY too musical to be considered "nu".
The guitar solo part reminds of Vai.
I can definatly see the Rush, with the synth.
