Hey wondering if any home studio owners could help me out. (running mac os x 10.4.11) im just trying to get my home studio set up and im running into a really damn annoying problem. I produce beats on my desktop PC and have to record vocals on my mac. Im using a blu bluebird mic connecting to my scarlet 2i2 interface, and i am trying to use audacity to record my vocals over the beats i make. i can upload my .wav file fine but as soon as i make a vocal track my mic picks up nothing and when i stop the recording it freezes the program entirely. If anyone could help me out id be really appreciative. Just as I was about to finish writing i encountered a new problem which is now the beat .wav i import will show up but now i press play and nothing happens so there's that.

really hopiing i can get some help here

Do you have the correct (and latest revision) drivers installed for the Scarlet running in a Mac environment? Does the mic work? (haha, always worth checking that you don't have a cable/hardware issue). Do you have the Scarlett (and the channel you have the mic plugged into) selected as the audio input in Audacity?
The fact that it is freezing up would indicate a driver/software issue.

I don't understand why you don't use the desktop PC and 2i2 for everything? (mainly because I don't understand macs AT ALL!) Or indeed just use the mac? (in which case I am out of here!)

Also, and I could SO easily be wrong! I did not think macs accepted .wav files? ...
Think I'll get me tea before those pesky kids come a'knockin'!

Dave.

Two suggestions. First, do it all on one computer. Second, ditch Audacity for recording (keep it for occasional editing) and get Reaper.
