Hi folks!

I'm new here ...

Briefest possible bio:
blind since birth, perfect pitch, lifelong audiophile, musician and critical listener.

I'm also a graduate of a college jazz guitar program, and like most of my classmates there, I now teach Green Day tunes to the kids part-time. yay. :)

I just finished the Berklee online course "The Art of Mixing". I took their mastering course last year. Here's an example mix that I'm actually happy with. :)

Comments/criticism welcome!

I'm not looking to just mix and master on the weekends... I want to do this as close to full-time as I can! So yeah, put me down as very very kean. :)

I have many questions about how to promote myself and my skills/find those first few paying clients... i guess those belong in the marketing group?

I'll also be checking out the construction group as well, since I need to acoustically fix this room.

Welcome to HR, Male vocal has alot of sibilance around 2k, I'd thin out the cymbals a bit more, high pass at a higher frequency, bass could use a touch more subs on it, Kick is somewhat lost in the mix. Overall sounds OK.
 
I take it you insert a little jazz theory into the Green Day chords!
Why did you do mastering before mixing? Carts & horses!
Yeah sibiliance is a little issue.
The tambourine volume seems a little inconsistent.
Good stuff!
 
Hi Ray. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I know ... I didn't know enough at the time to realize that hmm, maybe I should take the mixing course first. :) It was still worthwhile though, especially since the Katz book was our textbook.

Yep, I try and sneak theory into those Green Day tunes, no matter what. :)
 
Nice job, my only nit is the snare drum gets a bit too loud in spots.
 
thanks. i'll be re-mixing this one. At the time, I was just thrilled to get a snappy drum sound with some room mixed in, parallel compression etc. Well, I kinda liked the tempo-delayed mandolin too. :)
