New Here! something though about a sound card>???

ok i am new here and plan on having my own personnal "studio" setup by the end of may. but i have a question.

will a multi channel sound card allow me to record my drummer to my pc on cakewalk home studio in all different tracks>???

i want to see it on my monitor with like this track is toms, this is cymbals this is bass drum, all until i finally mix it down.

iv seen some cheap somewhat but is there any i can get for around $150 that will let me do this?? id be running 7 mics but i might combine some of the channels down. ill also be using a mixer before the soundcard.

If you get a multi-input interface you can in fact record different tracks simultaneously but you will have to name each track yourself within the software.
If using a mixer, whatever is tied to the mixer will be combined to one track.
You wont find a multichannel card for $150 new, but you can search ebay and might find a deal.
 
you can get a Delta 1010lt for $249....its about the cheapest 8in 8out card id reccomend.......
