New heads for Portastudios

I was wondering if anybody knew. I could contact Tascam, but I thought I'd do it here first...In case anybody knew.
I'd like to order a new head for my Porta one ministudio. Does anyone know if the heads come calibrated or "setup" for installation. Or would I have to have a tech do this after I install it myself. I've heard that recalibrating the heads on a smaller 4 track cassette (portastudio) isn't as crucial, like they don't usually go out of wack to much, but maybe what I've heard is wrong.

Im gonna say that you probably wont find any replacement heads for a porta studio. Especially a Porta01. Maybe someone else might chime in, but I dont think so...

I would assume that the head used in that model is probably the same one that's used in many others too so odds are you should be able to find a new one from TASCAM's part's department...call them and find out.

Why do you need to change it? Was it scared from impact or something? it's pretty hard to wear one of those out!

As to recalibration, you might be able to get away without doing that unless it has been monkied with already from a previous owner and if that's the case, then yes, budget for that as well.
