I've always done some singing just on the side as a hobby. I enjoy being on stage (acting, public speaking, poetry slams). I know I don't have a whole lot of range and can be pitchy. Just looking for some tips. You can listen to me here at Sound Cloud (/orbitalrival). The "numbered" tracks are newer (recently was asked to leave as the other members didn't think I fit--ah well). The tracks with titles are from my old college band.

Thanks everyone!

Just bumping this thread up. See below and please let me know what you think here (soundcloud,com/orbitalrival). Any tips from experienced metal/rock singers would be greatly appreciated!

After listening to some of your tracks, I feel like your singing is a bit too "feeble". You should put more energy into it, more "punch". You are also out of tune a bit too often. You should work on that :) Just my thoughts!

You need vocal couching. You'll mess up your chords if you continue singing without professional help.

*Not that you're not good, you just need practice and professional advices.

I'll be brutally sincere:

You are out of tune and it seems you sing from your throat only, being said that, just fix it and you'll be good to go, regarding of genre.

take some lessons. if you are tensing at all in order to make sound, you are going to hurt your voice and probably have more trouble with pitch. i used to tense my shoulders and tongue all the time, especially for higher notes. i'd recommend lessons, they worked wonders for me.
