New gear help!

I just purchased a Tascam Portastudio DP-02CF (refurbished) and I am having some trouble, I am getting no playback. I assume its recording because I hear it through my headphones and the meters show it is getting a signal, but when I go back and press play I get no sound at all. I did some internet research and it seems to be a somewhat common problem, so is there a solution? Or am i doing something wrong?? Help!

You haven't armed the track...

you want to record on. You need to pick the channel (A or B), press it and the track you want to record on (it should blink fast), then, when ready to record, simply press the track (so it blinks slowly) and you're good to go. Takes a little practice, but easy after that...

One more thing...

Just because the meters on the far left of the display show a signal doesn't mean you are recording. You need to make sure that, in addition to the signal on the far left, you are also seeing the signal come up on whatever track you are recording on. It's a very easy machine to use, BUT it took me three days to figure it all out.
