New EMU 0404 Digital Audio PCI Sound Card worth waiting for?

If you were in the market for a $100-200 PCI audio card, would the EMU 0404 PCI card be worth waiting for (versus buying the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 or Echo MiaMidi now)?

I've been holding off on these cards and the EMU 1212M since I don't need that much I/O. The 0404 looks pretty hot for my needs (only 1-2 channels with MIDI, balanced 1/4" I/O).

I'm surprised that AMS has a release date of 6/18/2004, but there's so little info on the web, including EMU's product pages.

One of the nice things about getting the Audiophile or the Mia is knowing that, in the future, if you need more, you can add another M-audio or Echo sound card and the cards will work together.

Right now, that's not assured with the E-mus.

I'd personally stay away from this type of low-end card until the drivers become more mature.
