Pretty cool! Looks like work in progress. Got vocals and such for this?
One thing I noticed, the bass is trying to woof out. It sounds a little thick around 300-350Hz.

yo track of the rat,
wtf dude, yeah, I knew the bass was big, that's why I had the warning up. But ya know, on my little set up it sounds fair. With my minimal music, the bass needs to be strong, and it's hard for me get it down where it should probably be. I had to eq a little on my media player to get it close. Plus I've only been working on the "real" bass guitar for a few weeks. My touch isn't there yet. I guess a little more mixing, or maybe a little compression could help. Eh? Glad you enjoyed the listen. Not much on the vocal side of the mic yet. It's hard enough to breathe when I'm trying to play the instruments. he he he he he he

thanks again,

Hey that's cool DTB.

The bass is a bit loud, but the problem is more one of definition.

I don't dig the 80ish synth stuff, what's that about? Replace it with a piano or something. Those patches with the 'voice' attack are ok, but a bit dated sounding. Maybe that's the sound your after, I don't know.

The choice of notes is groovy, just the choice of sounds doesn't jive with me, IMO.

The bass lines are very melodic, get them isolated a bit better and the mix and your rocking.

As far as vocals, yeah I can hear it. John Denver or somebody would fit the bill.

Relaxing stuff, very nice!

hey Emeric,
give me an idea on this isolation thang. Is this anything to do with how the bass sits in the mix?
80ish synth, shit man, I just like the tinkle going on. Very unelectronic, eh? Kinda Rocky Mountain High. he he he he he he
thanks for the listen. All this 80ish and JD talk makes me feel so old. Damn, I am old. I knew something was up.
This little "work in progress" is now about 3 days old. I really appreciate you guys listening.

The bass is good in the upper registers, the low notes are just a rumble though. Fuzzy. I'd guess retrack it with a more suitable sound. I don't know what it sounds like though, just guessing based on the mp3. The bass doesn't have enough attack, don't know whether that is the bass, your playing, or how it was recorded. Almost like the tone knob is rolled off all the way. Isolate through panning maybe. Try panning the guitar further away (right) keep the bass centered, and the synth around 9:00.

It's really not far off (the bass). Like the tune though. Get words down to it, that could change everything. The guitar is a bit boomy as well, some EQ cut in the 200 to 500 range might help.

Mellow....

very nice....you've done a good job of milking two chords for a very nice sound. I actually like the synth and the lead gtr sound...and especially the bass gtr. I think when this is put in a final mix mode, you'll have something very good. bridge section?...intro?...any other parts to add to this? that would be nice.

you know, as far as the 80's sound...I see if done well, it will transcend a time period. People tell me all the time that my synth stuff sounds like the 80's, but personally, I felt that was a creative time for synths too. So...I wouldn't worry about sound textures that might date your music....just do it well.

Emeric,
It very well could be the bass. he he he he he. Got to blame it on something other than a no bass playing butt like me. I did screw around a little and got some of the BOOM out of the low end. I know when I do some more to this track I'll be more caustious with the bass sound. Some panning changes will help with the other stuff.

mix,
I'm the original milker. I can milk the juice out of a 2 chord ditty until the damn cows come home. I've only listened to it about 10,000 times and I kinda agree with Emeric on the bass. I like it big, but it is a little cheapie my bud left here as to not having to tote one around, and it's going direct. Come to think of it, the tone knob maybe broke. Got to check that out. Still mighty fun.
Yeah, got some ideas still lurking around this ditty.

Thanks guys, later,

dtb

As always man, a very pleasant listen. I really like the electric guitar AND the synth. As far as bass goes, being a bass player, I like it where it is. I suppose it's too fat in the 300 hz area from a mixing standpoint, but damn it, it's time the bass got some dominance somewhere other than funk and Primus!

Rock on man.

sonny boy,
what's up. I've been plucking bass now for a couple months rather than using the drum machine. Really enjoying it too. I'm trying to fine a little style that fits my music. You know, some of my 2 chord wonders he he he he he . I think it works good in this one. Still a little loud. I'm going direct. Might try micing an amp ( there is also a nice keyboard amp left here by a bud that don't like toting it). Or maybe a little pre amp. I don't know. Just having great fun with it. Hell who knows, I might get gear slut fever any minute and go looking for my own bass guitar. he he he he he he
shhhhhhhhhhh, don't let the wifey hear that.
Thanks for listening and the remarks.

Ya know, I've been eyeing something that hangs on the wall just above the puter. An uncle made it about 25 years ago. Hasn't been off the wall in a real long time. A teardrop shaped dulcimer.
Now I know I could work up a 2 chord wonder on that. he he he
I enjoyed your last mp3. Might just pull that sucker down and twang on it some.
