What the heck, I haven't posted anything around here in a while, and I'm just listening to the last mixdown of this I did, so I figured I might as well post it up here to solicit some feedback.

I was experimenting a bit with acoustic micing on this one - the left (if I recall right) track is my Martin mic'd up with a AKG C3000B from a couple feet back (a bold and probably stupid move, to be honest, as I record in an untreated bedroom
), while the right was a C1000s close-mic'd. The rhythm guitars were my roommates Gibson Les Paul Studio into my Rectoverb combo on "Raw" mode, mic'd up with either a SM-57 or a Nady RSM-4 ribbon - single track of clean, and then two distorted tracks, hard left and right. The bass was my Sherman custom running into a Sansamp RBI, with a clean signal sent to my Rectoverb and mic'd up with a SM57, and the lead was my Strat into the Rectoverb's "Modern" mode, gain about halfway up, and the treble at 0 (which is actually a strangely good lead sound - go figure), mic'd up with that Nady (which is becoming my go-to lead guitar microphone; I don't get it, it was a $60 impulse buy, and it just seems to work REALLY well with this amp).
The playing's a bit rough - I recorded the lead Friday night while drinking a manhattan, but more prohibitively after a two week stretch where I barely got to play because I was too busy at work, and those full-step sustained bends in the chorus on a guitar strung up with 11's are pretty rough on you unless your calluses are in tip-top shape.
there's a few flubbed lines in the main solo, but to be honest when I cut this I'm pretty sure I didn't have another take in my fingers.
Anyway, any feedback on the mix (or even the playing, I guess, but I'll freely admit this isn't a releasable performance) is appreciated!
