Does this computer suffice for audio recordings?

It's a great start.

When you can afford it, max out the RAM and get a second hard drive. Put your tracking software on the first hard drive, use the second hard drive for your audio files.

Edit - I just read your other post. Adding more memory and a second hard drive might not be worth the extra money since your recordings will have very few tracks.

We have the Edirol UA25 USB Stereo Audio Interface - will that do it?

First of all yes it is a good system to run quite a load. Second it is not just the system that gives you performance you need a good soundcard too. Edirol is fine for single track recordings, I would suggest you get a audiophile or some m audio card which will help you a lot compared to the edirol. I have seen glitches and pops on people's recordings with edirol usb soundcards. so why risk it, use a good one.
you have plenty of hard drive space and good enough ram to run recordings without flaw. When you do your next upgrade get another 512 mb ram and a good audio interface like the ones I have mentioned above. You will be set for another two years.

What is an audiophile? Is it something I can get thru zzounds and what does the price range look like?

the audiophile is a soundcard, but it is PCI. Which means it plugs into the guts of your computer. You can instiall it yourself, wont take more that 5 minutes. The specific one you want is here, from zzsounds. its onliy 89 bucks
