got the thing in the middle today - totally stoked. Immediately makes my 80's metal stuff sound better. I'm going to have to learn what I'm doing with it.
It's got that link knob sort of in the middle - it can be off (dual mono), or anywhere from 50% to 100% linked (stereo) using the marked detents - I guess the less than 100% linkage is done with some variable strength side chaining thing (and the "shape" control lets you ignore highs and/or lows)? Not sure. But I usually have it around 70% with the stuff I've been working on recently.
Good on you for seeing what it was - I hadn't notice that I cropped off the sides (it's an API 2500). I'm still learning how to use it - it has a lot of controls. It's pretty much a make-betterizer on a drum bus with very little effort. I'm trying to use on the main 2 buss, too, and I think it will be hit and miss - solid hit so far for my bagpipe and drum stuff and my 80's metal stuff. Sort of miss for the singer songwriter stuff I've been working with, but maybe not - I'm continuing to dick with it.
