a roland vs-840 would be good for you, or if you can save a lil more you could get an 880. good luck

Hey Chris:

You can get some nice stuff done with a Yamaha MD-8 and have some $$$ left over to buy a few MD-8 Data discs. But if you want to get into CD production, I'm not sure the Yam is what you want; probably a Roland product but, as has been said here, you would have to buy all Roland stuff and that might not be so bad or so good.

Maybe you need to check out a few studios or stores and see what suits your budget vs. sound quality. Go digital - no waiting for the tape to rewind.

Korg D8 with a 2 gig jaz drive and a Phillips CDR880 Rewritable CD recorder.
TOTAL COST: $1,300
That's everything you'll need for great digital recordings, back-up, and the ability to burn your own cd's.
Toss in two Shure SM58's, and you're still under $1,500 for the whole enchilada.
