Just had a peek at the new blue microphone the *Spark*
It's orange in color and is under $200.

That's all I have unless someone else has any more info on it. ;)

Thanks shadow.
Does seem to be a good little microphone. They do state that it would be fine on brass! And it should be available here in the US just as other Blues are.
Me thinks I'll pick one up in the near future. ;)

Perhaps a Brass, not brasses, or ensembles. IMO.

It does seem nice for it's intent. First mic for newbies. But if it becomes BLUEs top seller, will they rename their company to Orange?

It should be interesting if they come with a TV ad for it. The mic of choice for construction workers and parking lot attendants. Orange you glad you've got one.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :p

I'll more than likely get one for I'm a sucker for the strange and unusual.
( you forgot airline taxiing.)

I think those are covered by parking lot attendant.

I might get one for the price. Just for the noise floor. It is what a podcaster mic should be IMO. Except for that needing a decent preamp to utilize the full specs anyway.

WAIT IT"S A PODCAST MICROPHONE?
You mean a usb mic? damn! I didn't see that anywhere in the write up about it!

No, not a USB mic. Although if they are truly targeting the first mic market (as stated), that should be an option. It's a phantom powered mic. Without a decent preamp the noise floor wont be 10dB and the S/N wont be 84dB. IMO. For all intents a baby bottle in orange. Not that I've used any Blue mics yet. Although Yeti has tempted me a couple times. I just don't need another cheap mic that I could probably never sell at costs. And could otherwise be out done by most of my existing gear. The noise floor spec on the spark, if you're a podcaster who doesn't shout or who doesn't lick the mic while talking, is ideal IMO.

OK, I see.
You know one thing you never see are the blue microphones being modified in any way like many others in their price range.
Guess that says something for them, but maybe this microphone is a candidate for those mad scientist.
But then again MXL just put out the 2003a that requires little to no modifying maybe this is the sign of the times where you can get an entry level microphone for under $200. and not be dissatisfied.

WE CAN ONLY HOPE!
