Im looking for opinions to a couple issues Im having wrt a new setup in the studio.
Ive began to upgrade my system slowly but surely to a more professional setup to
achieve better sound quality and to actually release some solid home recorded
projects. Im still a couple pieces away.
PC software:
1.6ghz celeron (will upgrade at some point but this is sufficient), 1gb ram, 150GB
HDD UATA, cubase, Delta 66 and Audigy Platinum
Mackie mixer 1202 VLZ pro, 2 MXL 2001, 2 MXL 603s mic's
monitors-> no true monitors just yamaha PC sub and speakers..
First: Im looking for some studio monitors that I can combine with my rig and are
affordable, the best quality at the lowest cost I can get. I will upgrade these
end of year but for now I need a good quality monitor for 125-200 -
My one dillema: Im trying currently to figure out how I can appropriately
incorporate the Delta 66 for listening back to unmixed tracks. Currently I use the
AUdigy as my main PC sound card so I have my sub woof/speakers plugged into line
out on the Platinum and I listen to all wav/mp3/midi/etc etc via this sound source.
However, Ive recently installed the Delta for 24 bit recording and Im using the 4
preamp channels and direct outs on the mackie to feed the inputs on the delta
breakout box which in return record very well thru CUbase via the delta Asio
drivers but the problem is playback after recording since I typically have to stick
the headphones into the output port on the break out box I want to hear.
What Im
curious to get input on is the best way for me to use one monitor/speaker source
and to have both these soundcards feed into it?
What I was going to do is use the 4 inputs on the mackie with preamps for recording
and then use the other 4 to receive the delta outs and then use the main out's to
route the signal to speakers/monitors. Then I would have normal speakers for wav
playback and then this monitor I could RX from the main out on the mackie should be
that of the out on the delta..
Im curious on your feedback..
