New and old headset with microphone included HELP

Hello,I searched across the google but couldnt find any solutions.I tried lot of stuff,especially the basic ones like reinstalling drivers,updating drivers,new audio card and similar.I use windows 7 and I the only time microphone worked was back then when I had windows xp,but it was only for a week cuz I needed to reinstal windows.So after that nothing again.
The strangest thing is that I cant raise the microphone volume more than 0 db.That bar is like -14 all the way till 0 db.
If I could somehow get to more than 0 in a positive + volumes I think everything would work fine.
One crazy idea which pop in my head while I was writing this.Sometimes I seen mic volume strenght automaticly drop if it's too loud or similar soo if I just scream really strong the bar could go higher than 0 db.
Well unless my idea works I would really apreciate if someone would help me,I cant understand how can this microphone thing be soo "buggy",there is like ton of problems and a lot of people ends up with mic not working.
Mic is nothing special in this tehnological world and yet it's so hard to get it working.

By deleting all sound drivers on my computer lead to not having any sound comming on speakers,mic...
Soo after instaling them again that slidebar started working but I still dont hear anything when I say in mic and it doesnt even show anything.Weird thing is that microphone shows voice strenght when I play some song on pc,like it's working,but when I sing on it nothing.
This might be case of low volume mic or muted but it says it's not and I checked every option regarding that.
Anyway hope this helps people see what my problem is and tell me some solution.

It looks like 'microphone' is actually a port on a pci slot card in your computer.
Do you have a microphone plugged into it?

I can't really help with windows/drivers, but regarding 0.0db, that's the norm.

0db is usually a reference point after which digital clipping will occur.
If you read around here about recording levels, you'll see people saying, "make sure your tracks don't peak higher than -18 - -12 or so.

That's because 0.0 is the absolute top level, and you don't want to get anywhere near that in a digital recording.

As far as your mic goes, just consider 0.0db to be the same as 10 on an amp, or whatever.


You say you've seen it drop if you scream or shout. Again, I think that's normal. A lot of consumer 'chit-chat' software will adjust your levels on the fly.
I think skype does it too?
