J to the R O C
...and new TS9 :) Got a Vox AC4TV. As some of you might have noticed, I was checking out the Marshall Clas 5 but I played this in-store today and it's so versatile. Switchable from 1/4 to 1 to 4 watts, so there's 3 readily-accessible tones right there. For me, it's the middle-ground between the Epi Vlv Jnior combo and the Fender Champ 600. It's got just enough thump and sizzle and a nice bit of mid-range bark.

I LOVE my TS9. Oh man, it was the best thing to happen to my rig in years. Silky smooth overdrive that works so well with a tube amp. I started with all knobs at 12:00 and it was a great amount of distortion to kick in when I have my amp's crunch channel set pretty clean, where it would distort when I really dug in. Then I'd step on the TS9 and get just a perfect mid-range crunch ala The Hold Steady.

When I want more sensitivity for a heavier sound, putting the drive knob at 3:00 is just right. I've even started rolling back the tone knob to about 10:00 to smooth out the overdrive even more.

I really love my TS9.

Good luck with the Vox. The variable wattage feature looks awesome, the world needs more amps with this featue. I don't understand why nearly every amp doesn't have a similar feature. To be able to take the same amp from bedroom to rehearsal to a gig and be able to dime the master in every situation is absolutely invaluable.
