...
hi all,,,,

i'm just writing a quick post about a song i recorded.

generally speaking i'm pretty happy with the recordings i make,,but i usually spend a lot of time on them.

A LOT of time was spent on the album at www.petegardiner.cjb.net

but the final track 'Tuesday Blues' only took about 4 hours, start to finish.

My question is, does a difference come across in the mix,,or does it fit in with the 'time honoured' tracks?

Obviously when someones paying,,,u can't just take days and days to mix,,so that's why i'm asking :)

thanks everyone.

man, this is really impressive work across the board!!! very pro sounding.

"tuesday blues" definitely has a more raw sound than the rest and if you threw it in the middle of the album it would stick out like a sore thumb.

maybe put it as a hidden track as "tuesday blues (live)" :D

really, i can't emphasize enough how incredible this sounds. even the track in question sounds really good--just not as polished as the rest.

hey man,,,thanks so much for what you said there :)

the song in question is a very old song by the artist, back in the 'i wish i was axl rose or bret michael' days,,and to a point keeping it kinda raw <especially vocally> is kinda intentional,

but at the same time,,sticking out like a sore thumb is never good :(

if the standard of the song on its own is deemed high enough,,,i'll most likely just keep it as a 'single' and disassociate it from the album,,

there was a year between the two afterall.

really,,thanks again for that :) really good to hear it!

+1 to this suggestion. You probably wouldn't even need to label it "live". That's how secret/bonus tracks usually work. It's just a song that doesn't really fit in with the feel of the rest of the album.

The Smashing Pumpkins' Gish had "I'm going Crazy," which was probably thrown together in just a few hours (if that).
Live's Throwing Copper had an unnamed country song at the end.
Five Iron Frenzy (Christian "ska") had a song that they threw together while in the studio and didn't bother mastering.
