Hey all, I haven't posted here for a while, but I've been around this site for a few years. Actually posted my first home recording on my Tascam 788 here about 3 years ago. I'm still playing and recording and have some new recordings I'd like feedback on. Give a listen if you have time. Thanks, Steve

I take it you aren't a singer Steve and thats why these are all instrumentals... it's a shame cos the recording quality is quite good.

Personally I'd just lose the drums... you'd sound better on your own without them.

The rhythm acoustic sounds a little boomy at times but most of the time is ok.

The recording quality is good and you are getting some nice tones from the lead guitar.

How did you mic these acoustics... close up? far out? stereo? mono?

What I'd love to see Steve is some singing on these tracks... the lead guitar is good but it would be much better if it was used sparingly in a song.

While the lead guitar plays some nice melodies it isn't enough to sustain interest for the whole song..

The guitar is already singing song-like melodies... so they are aready written... you just need some words...

Why not try singing on one of them... even some low almost spoken singing might be interesting...

I forgot to say that even without singing I am liking these songs :)

Steve,

Liked your stuff. You're getting a beautiful sound with the 603's. I would have figured you were using high end mic's. It struck me as I was listening that there are a lot of threads in the mic section of the BBS comparing the 603s to other mic's and they should give a listen to your work and hear about your setup. I agree with Handsome Al that you don't need the drums.

Tima and Al, thanks for the feedback. I use 2 MXL 603 mics thru a Presonus Blue Tube preamp. One mic aimed at about fret 14, the other aimed behind the bridge. Mixed together it gives a pretty real sound. I do some singing, but right now I'm focusing on the guitar parts, getting the rhythm and leads to fit. Oh Yeah, I'm not sure about the drums either, but it gives it a bigger sound and something else to mix in.

Very cool sounding music. Nice clean guitar tones. I know how you feel about drums sometimes. I can't play to a regular click track, so I program a drum machine, or put together some loops. Keeps me from losing my way in a song.

Anyway, very nice sounds. Guitars are mixed together very well, and great playing.
