Hi-
I just started experimenting in Acid for some fresh ideas. The thing is, certain Acid Loops are shorter than your building blocks in the sequencer. This sounds mechanical and halfassed. Is there a way to shorten your blocks for these short WAVS? How do I make my tracks sound seamless?
Thanks!

I'm not sure I'm with you. Are you using Acid software? What do you mean by "the sequencer"?

I've had probs with old pre-Acid loops, where they weren't careful about cutting to an even number of beats. I've been able to solve those by treating them as beatmapped and specifying tempo in Sound Forge.

I still have probs with slowing down loops - lots of artifacts. If I can, I resample them at a lower pitch that corresponds to the desired tempo - as long as I'm not dropping pitch too far, it sounds way better than the default Acid approach.

But it doesn't sound like that's what you're asking.

Clarify, please?

OK - in track view, when you fill in a block with a loop in whatever sequence you're in. Some Acid Loops are in time, but sound un-realistic because they actually play twice during an Acid measure. It sounds mechanical, because there's an audible space between loops. I've got one loop disk. Just wondering if they're all like this. I'm used to working with drum machines and keyboards. Thanks!

If they're actually "Acidized" loops the tempos should be accurate. Anything you buy from Acid is acidized, and some other loopsellers acidize too. If they're not acidized, Acid takes a best guess as to the tempo - and is wrong a lot, usually by a factor of two. For example, you have a 72bpm sample, it thinks it's 144.

But the duration of the sample depends on the number of beats in it. So a 2-beat sample WILL only be a half measure. An 8-beat sample will be two measures.

I'm not sure where you're getting the extra "space" from - Acid may be misidentifying a single-hit sample as a loop. But just paint it for a shorter duration (you'll probably have to snap to the 1/4 note or quicker) and that will kill the extra hits.

Mm, I am unclear also........... I am still not sure about your question????

I am sure that we can offer you a simple and clear solution to your problem. We just need to be sure what the problem is........... ;)

Can you make a song sound seemless and un-mechanical in Acid? That's what I'm getting at, I guess. Whether or not to bother looking into buying more loops or just stick with making beats in Fruity Loops and Dr, Rhythm, because I hear an audible "hickup" at the end of a sample during a loop, before it repeats. Maybe the Loop CD I'm working with here is just lame. What's your opinion?

Mm, I'm answering your question....... it'll take me a few minutes to type, so don't log off.

1. Yes, you can. It will take you a little time to get acclimated with the program.

2. There could be a number of reasons for that happenning.

A. The beginning and the ends of the sample might not be truncated properly (zero cross section).

B. The tempo of the song just might not fit with tempo of the sample OR vice versa.

C. How do you have the sample set up????? .......as a LOOP,......as a ONE SHOT,........ or BEAT MAPPED (disc based)?????

D. It will also depend, again, on where you have your start and end points set-up.

3. Maybe

4. It depends on your next post. ;)

5. (if ya dont mind, Spin...) What loop disc do you have?

I only ask because I bet between the lot of Acid users here, one of us will probably have the same disc and we can check specifically what you are talking about.

I've got Rapoon Sci-Fi Tribal. It just sounds hiccupy when I loop the samples. Maybe not to everyone. But to me.
Alien Saul is sweet, BTW.

I don't use sample discs. ;)

I have 80.000 records AND Sound Forge. :D

Mm, maybe you can send us one of the samples. I'm sure we can rectify your situation. :)

I guess this is a mute topic. I'll figure it out. Thanks for the help guys!

Figured my problem out. Shorten the loop unit using Snap To, then by moving the triangle on to to half. Thanks!
