Which have you worked with Neve mic pres? Do you reccomend the 1073 or the 1081 or another?

I have worked with them a bit.
It's hard for me to discribe them in words but the 1073 to ny ears is sweeter
and more solid then the 1081.
For me the 1081 is fatter, Warmer and not as focused as the 1073.
I would use vocals on the 1073 and drums and bass on the 1081.
BUT !!!.... These both are FANTASTIC pieces of gear and very expensive.
If I'm not mistaken the 1073 is around $3000 and the 1081 is $4000 (I could be wrong).
You cant go wrong with these two babys but they are somewhat of an overkill for a home studio.

While I agreee with shailat about the sound of these amps. I dont think they're overkill for anything..a good sounding pre is valuable in any situation (IMNSHO).
BTY. I am going to sell a few 1073 clones. I swear they sound just like the original, and a fraction of the price.
