Son of Yoda
Hi there...

Any of you dudes have any particular experience with this mic either as a live vocal mic, or in the studio?

I've just been given one as a birthday present (woo hoo!) and haven't really used a condenser in a live situation before - that being its main purpose initially.

Any tips, tricks or suggestions welcome! :drunk:

Nice present!

Is it the 104 or the 104 PLUS? - the PLUS version has more bass end.

The mic. has pretty good pop protection - make sure you have 48V phantom switched on and, basically, try it out and learn it and how to get the best from it with your voice.

You play live with in ear monitors? If not and you're on loud stages i suspect you may have problems with it...

Just the 104 - and yeah, hell of a present... knocked me out! And I scored a v. expensive new guitar from my girlfriend on the same (birth)day - it's all happening over here.

I have enough bass end of my own, so glad I didn't get the enhanced version. ;)

And I don't play on loud stages so hopefully whatever that problem may be won't manifest! :D No ear monitors yet... must look into that though...

Sounds like I may be able start doing my cover of "Peter Piper Picked A Peck Of Pickled Peppers" again if it's good with plosives.... I miss it so much.:drunk:

KMS104 rocks! Everybody sings the praises of KMS105, because it's a little more feedback resistant due to its tighter polar pattern, If feedback's a problem, I'd use a dynamic anyway. The 104 is much more user-friendly. I simply prefer cardioid mics for live use. For more intimate settings and acoustic music, there isn't a better off-the-rack live vocal mic on the planet. Do you think you could get some of your friends and relatives to adopt me? Congratulations.-Richie

It was actually my cousin who gave it to me. Helluva gift!

I'd will it to you but you're older than me Richie - perhaps I'll die young... :D Actually, probably too late for that...

And I do do acoustic music in <relatively> intimate surroundings, so it should sound good.. I'm with you on the cardiod v. hyper pattern too.

Cheers
