I uploaded this a little more than a month ago but didn't get any responses, so I'll try again.

This is an Epiphone Les Paul Standard w stock pickups. Running through a Crate Half Stack. It has terrible tone, so don't beat me up too badly for the poor lead-guitar quality. I tried my best to EQ the shitty stuff out of it, but I can only do so much. I'm using 5 AKG 9000s (If my memory serves me correct)

Tell me what you think of it!

Don't sell yourself short. This is probably my favorite Neil Young song, and I was ready to be disappointed. Whatever. You really did the song justice. There's a lot of room for imperfection in a song like this as long as the emotion and delivery are for real, and it certainly is here. Well done.

think you nailed it damn well!!

comments...... the drum at the beggining is a bit too boom cha.... and somewhere in the middle you started to shred which is a major neil young no no......

but otherwise really really excellent!!

Nice

You know if you are going to play a song like this every little nuance is going to be closely inspected. You have to have done a really great job for a person to listen to all 10 minutes of this and I did. I have no problem with you taking it in your own direction as I’ve heard Neil do this in all kinds of styles as the song lends it’s self to doing just that. Same with Down by the River.

You have to sell those lyrics though. I want to hear every word mean what is being said. Quiet down the guitars at the beginning and let em hear the emotion which the guitar emulates during the jam. Hard to explain. Sell those lyrics.

It’s really good. You can do it better.

Obi-Wan: Thanks. I'm glad I didn't let you down

zazz: Could you elaborate on the drums? I don't understand where you're coming from. Thanks.

Geewizu2: Thanks for the honesty. I'm glad that you enjoyed it also.

I love the original and wore out the damn CD - you did a great job dude. Neil Young is my generation and I love his "grunge" stuff...

You caught the vibe, and as simple as this song is, that is the hardest thing to get right.

Overall it's a great job of a cover.

Thanks guys! Apparently it turned out better than I thought it would.

nice job;)

I wouldn't worry about the guitar tone too much. As much as there is to love about Neil, his songwriting, uniqueness and all, I wouldn't say his guitar tone is always the best, so what you've got there seems to fit right in:)

It's one of my fav song from the legend. loved it!!! goood job!

Your fist couple of syllables are swallowed by the rest of the stuff going on. You'll eirther have to carve a space or drop the backing a bit.
The vox delivery could be a bit angrier but works fiine as is.
NY in this mode is all about emoting with guitar & voice - passion counts for 90%.
The occasional vocal pitchiness is well within the NY margin for error.

Great job. I hadn't heard this song in awhile. I agree with the comments on the vocals. Maybe bringing them up in the mix might bring out a little more of your emotion when singing it? As it sits though I really enjoyed it. It sounds like you really got into it and had fun.
