Agreed, goldwave is great software (and cheap too). Also, if you plan to email this to people ... convert it to mp3 first ... wav files are pretty big to go through email... unless it's pretty short.

What kind of "soundrecorded" file do you have now? .aiff? .cda? Most of the time, it's probably already a .wav file.
