Fellow BBS Brothers and Sisters !

I am now at an impasse as to buy which sound card?

Delta Audiophile 2496
Delta 410
Delta 44

I need your pro/con opinions.
I am desperate!

I can afford any one of these.

I just have not heard enough from those folks who actually use them.
I am recording myself only (in separate tracks of course)

Drums
Guitars
Vocals
Etc.

Looking for a good clean sound.

Thanks

How many inputs do you need? What software are you using? Do you need preamps or do you have some already?

The information you provided isn't enough for anyone to give you an informed opinion...

As a quasi-newbie, all I can say is I'm lovin' the 44 over a year after purchase. If you're really only recording yourself, one instrument at a time, I can't see why you'd need more than 4 tracks of input at once (unless you like elaborate mic setups), so I'd say save some cash and get the Delta 44.

If there's even an outside chance you might be doing some stuff with friends in the future, though, more inputs might be a good idea.

Well...
I am recording drums so that will tell you that I should require 2-4 right?
If the software really matters, it's n-track

None of the 3 that I listed have pre-amps so doesn't that say that "I don't need any?

I am not trying to be belligerent here. I appreciate your attempts at help, but of these 3 there MUST be one better than the other. I hope I have not alienated you at all.

Well unless you have some external gear that can act as a set of A/D converters then your only choice is the delta 44. The other two soundcards only have 2 analog inputs so unless you can use their digital inputs then they wont be able to handle 3 or 4 tracks for drums.

If you are doing drums, of the 3 you listed only the Delta44 would be what i would pick....but at that price range also consider the Delta 1010lt.....its only drawbacks are the unbalanced RCA inputs, which isnt a problem if your cable runs are short....the 1010lt has 8 analog ins/outs, spdif in/out, midi in/out, 2 mic preamps, etc.......

The Audiophile has 2 inputs, the Delta 4. The only reason someone would buy the Audiophile is because they DON'T NEED more than 2 inputs. Do you need 4 or not?

Not all software supports cards with more than 2 inputs. N-Track does.

Yes, but what about inputs? The Audiophile has unbalanced RCA and the 44 balanced 1/4".

I plan on connecting this card to a Tascam Mixer with RCA outs.

(I think I just got my answer thanks to you folks)

Thank you so much!
