I am in a cover band and we are recording a few clips of different songs to go in our press kit. I am trying to get better at this but still need a lot of work. I think my attempts get better each time so that's good. The singer and I did this today. Is there anything noticable that I could do to improve the sound of this and future recordings? I used Reaper and a Line 6 Toneport. The mic was a Rode K2.

The vocal is really quite dry, I know the original was very wet with reverb & echo. A few more guitar tracks would sound good, use different pickups (bridge or neck) for a variety of sound-but I guess if there is only 1 guitar in the band you might need to stick with a single guitar track for the club demo though. Everything sounds pretty much centered, some panning of the drums and guitar would help out I think..

With a single guitar, you need to give it a stereo feel. Think Dokken's first album. George Lynch's guitars were double tracked stereo. They sounded wide, but still like a single guitar. The trick is to copy and paste the guitar track and then pan them hard right and hard left. Add a simple delay to one of the tracks with a 10-15ms delay on it.
