Wicked Machine
I have found some drum loops and I'm trying out "looping" for the first time.

I import the loop into a track and select the loop and hit the CTRL L key to enable looping. But when I do this the loop stretches or something, it doesn't sound the same as the original. The new loop's tempo is slower.

Any help appreciated.

That's interesting, I haven`t tried that function yet. I just import the loop into the selected track, select the loop, then click EDIT>, COPY, then select the next measure and select EDIT> PASTE, and tell it to align to measures and the appropriate # of times to play that loop. Then I select the next loop I want, import and so on.....

I will try what your speaking of though..

You have to adjust the number of beats in the clip. Rightclick on it and select "Properties". It shoud be there somewhere...

Not sure I understand what the problem is but here are two options...
easy solution, albeit ugly, is to import mp3 files and just cut and paste them. I did that for a while and it worked....No timing issues.

other idea, and it's only more difficult because I have a hard time explaining it, is this. I sometimes include loops I've made in Fruity and, when I do this, I make sure the metronome on both programs is the same. I had all kinds of problems with Sonar stretching the loops I made before i made sure they were a consistent bpm. If you're talking about samples where you don't know the beats per minute, ummmm, then I dunno.

I hope I helped you troubleshoot.

Moskus, you are a friggin genius!!!!! I have been wrestling with this problem for weeks, no-one could help me. Now it gets fixed straightaway. Thank you very much.:D
Theage, when you read the properties of the original clip, you then have to make sure that the original tempo of the clip is pasted into Sonars tempo window, otherwise it extends/shortens the clip, as you are seeing.

BTW, Cntrl L works for me, groove clips are a much neater way of handling loops. Import your clip, highlight it, cntrl L to enable groove clipping and then simply drag the end of the clip to the end of your song, the clip will automaticly repeat and extend as you drag. I thought it was magic the first time I saw that happen.
