makecsure sb line input isnt muted in windows volume control.
also make sure in cool you identify the drivers to use.
does cool list the selected drivers ?

i've tried all that but nothing , what i did notice is that the volume input on the meters is very low i got it set at 120db and it only peaks halfway,

i have the volumes crank'd up on the vol-controls,
i dont want to have to install this again, my pc dont have much room for more .

any other suggestions
thanks

are you really sure cubase didnt change any sound card settings ?
could you do two things for me ?
in windows volume control are TWO APPLETS.
could you tell me your settings in BOTH.
ie; the recording and playback applet.
i'm trying to help.
also could you tell me your mic...mixer..to soundcard line input signal chain ?
are you sure you dont have the fader down in your mixer that sends the audio to sound card line input ?
peace.

yo manning1, i got it working ,i just hit the default on my SB sound controller
and it started working ,

i asume i changed something on cubase that effected the sound card.
thanks for your help.

need to figure out cubase now.and i
just have to figure out what i did so i dont do it again.

thanks again

i'm happy for you.
my advise. really understand the windows playback and recording applets.
cool is a very very good AUDIO program. but no midi features - or very limited.
if you ever need loads of midi editing/recording features to complement cool
check out what i use. powertracks from pgmusic.com.
just the notation and score printing and editing is very usefull.
also - if your a songwriter like me. check out band in a box from pg as well.
you can download a free demo if you wish. it could complement cool nicely.
its very addictive as it lets you build a back up band in your pc and could save you laying down a lot of trx in cool. ie..less taxing on your pc. then you could convert the back up band tracks to audio, import the audio into cool as an stereo audio track then add your vocals, guitar etc etc.
just an idea to help.
peace.
