Hi Guy, I am new to the forum and nice to meet music lovers.
I love to sing in chat room and currently using creative sound card +interface power+blue bird condenser mic

I want to upgrade my recording sound card now and have no idea which model/brand I should go with.
I will need EQ while singing/recording live.

Please give me some ideas what kinda setup I should go and thanks in advance.

Does the behringer mixers power condenser? Or I still have to use interface?

The reason I am upgrade is because the consumer grade sound card with KX driver doesn't work as good in Windows 7, driver just doesn't support the function like it did in win xp.

I want to go to very clean and clear live recording with the upgrade device.

Phantom power is required for condenser microphones.
Some behringer mixers have it; Some don't have it.

The one I linked does have it. :)

Felicitations Fobbie,

The kicker in your request is the EQ going in. No AI to my knowledge has that. There are AIs with built in DSP FX but these tend to be expensive.

The suggestion of a small mixer is a good one but again there is a problem. Whilst the small mixers such as the Behringer Xeny 802 are electronically very good, the usb versions are not so clever. The usb converters are always 16bit only and tend to be a bit noisy.

Bit of a faff I know but buy a mixer, sans usb and a modest AI. A second hand M-Audio fast track pro would serve you very well but a Tascam US122 or 144 would be fine. You then run the mixer into the line inputs of said AI.

The M-A Ftp has inserts and the Berry 802 FX sends and returns. This is a more elegant and "pro" way to EQ the mic and the lack of gain of the Pro's pre amp will not matter with a capacitor mic.

Dave.
