I just rearranged my room to incorporate my newly-acquired Tascam 38 and M-308 mixing board.

I'm mainly a keyboard player, and the way my setup usually looks is I have about 5 or 6 keyboards, all permanently connected to the input channels on a Mackie 1202-VLZ3 mixer, a Presonus Firepod for digital recording to the computer, which is just firewired to my Mac and the main outs are run to the last channel on my Firepod (which also allows me to route the computer sound into the mixer and use that because it's easier to use on the panel and right next to me), then the main outs from the Mackie go to my active monitors. So really, when I record into the computer using the Firepod, I really have to pull the cables out of the Mackie for that particular instrument and plug it into the Firepod to record it. NOT the most efficient way but I unfortunately got comfortable using my bass-ackwards setup.

Now I want to be able to incorporate the tape machine and M-308 into the equation, and I am having trouble figuring out how to wire things up.

Basically, the Mackie is on my desk and the M-308 is on the other side of the room next to the tape deck. I had moved my main rig of keyboards to the opposite side of the room (same side as desk) and others to the opposite end, for space reasons. Really, it's a small room but I needed it to be a bit more efficient. So now I was thinking of using my Mackie as sort-of a submixer for the keyboards and be able to run the outputs of it to the 308, but because I want to be able to record whatever is coming off the Mackie into my 38 I need to figure out A) what is the best output/input combination to use for the two mixers and B) how will I be able to send the Mackie output to an individual channel and record it to the 38?

Now, all this said and done, I then want to be able to run the outputs of the 308 into the Firepod for recording whatever comes off the tape. This is confusing the shit out of me! I totally prefer to use the 308 as the final mixer but I need to make sure I can run the tape outputs from the mixer into the Firepod and that's where i'm really losing my mind!

EDIT: I think I sort-of solved one problem, which was I just ran the outputs of the mixer into two channels L and R... I didn't want to do that for some reason, as I thought you could just plug into some AUX port and assign the AUX to that channel, but it wasn't working out that way. But my only concern now is being able to get the separate recorded channels (1-8) out to the computer interface so I can edit them separately, without re-patching every time...
